I won't say the exact derogatory words used, but it basically said that USU did not need "wetback scum" like at it's school and that I should just stay in Mexico. (When I'm not even from Mexico!) I felt very hurt and discouraged after that message.I'm already facing my worst fear: being treated badly due to my ethnicity. Please, tell me that this was just an ignorant person and not all USU students are like this. :/
I am so sorry you got that message. It is distasteful and hurtful to hear that someone from Utah State would say something like that.
I can say with great certainty that the students at USU are the friendliest people I have ever met. I have attended and visited other schools, and I have never seen so many people who just smile and say hi. Which is exactly why I am so deeply offended by the message you received. I assure you, the ignorance and bigotry of that individual is not a representation of the student body.
